Continuing on from my earlier post “How Nike Plus became Nike Negative“, Nike have released a new version of the App which does away with the need for the chip.
Instead it works on the same basis as Adidas MiCoach by tracking runs via GPS. So Kudos for Nike for providing a viable solution but one thing bugs me…Nike has an advanced digital strategy campaign, and yet there’s no real push or drive to promote the new solution.
I would have thought Â Nike’s would have continued its engagement with its users via its social media channels, but instead it seems to have buried the bad news around it’s chip and by way of apology offered a down played solution as an apology.
Nike be transparent with your users if you are to be continuously effective in your social media strategy.
